The Porsche Boxster is a very successful reminiscence of the formal vocabulary of sports car construction of the 50s and 60s. Also, the Boxster is strikingly similar to a KARMANN study of a mid-engine roadster from the 80s.
The initially launched versions with 2,5 l and 204 HP are rather a bit weak and fulfill only very partially at least my requirements for how “to-drive-a-Porsche” should feel like:
"... when I step on the gas, everything else becomes smaller in the rearview mirror".
Or direct quote from Ferry Porsche: "A Porsche must shoot!".
The Boxster is also not just a lightweight.
But it was consequently developed.
At any rate, this Porsche came at the right time in the mid-1990s.
I personally like the Boxster so well that I would buy it.
But with 1.95 m size I do not fit into it. Very sad.
Blessed is he/she, who has the pleasure!

Attention!
There are several suppliers of glass rear window upgrades/retrofits for the Porsche Boxster, mostly US-American manufacturers.
The glass panes of the Boxster convertible top are used here, or of the BMW MINI (for example, from BAS from GB).
We, the CK-Cabrio have gone a step further since 2016:
Because of the fact that the design of the rear window determines the style of the look, the overall impression of the rear view of the Porsche - and here it simply depends also on design and esthetics (otherwise you could also drive for example a Polo or Passat - with those you also get from A to B) - we have drawn our own rear window.
A design, which goes particularly well with the appearance of the Porsche and sharpens ultimately this Boxster.
And it is promised that it looks good in the pictures, but in nature even much better!
We have shortened the glass pane in the height, but we’ve left it in the width. The width is the primary decisive feature for the field of view.
The limitations of the visibility at the CK-Cabrio upgrade/retrofit to glass are therefore more of theoretical nature.
There is no need to make any changes to the linkage!
The look is appropriate for the overall picture of the Porsche Boxster and in our opinion it could be exactly the same in the original version.
And no additional PVC care, fully heated (the cable set is part of the delivery!) and additionally even much quieter than before at high speeds (!) realised by an in-house developed and "German Autobahn tested" additional attenuation - invisible from inside and outside.
No vibrations, shaking, ... or the like to the top speed.
The technical qualities of the Boxster convertible top have been optimized and facelifted subsequently.
We manufacture the Porsche soft tops for the 996/997 and for all the Boxster according to the current industry standards of the Porsche original system supplier (CTS/Magna-Group)!
Seams, gluing / reinforcing, tension cables ... everything as at the current originals.
This secures the full value retention of your Porsche.
The assembly of a Boxster 986 softtop takes us approximately 5 - 6 hours to get it done.
