The Mistral initially took over the technology of the predecessor Maserati 3500 GT in a new dress.
The design carries Pietro Frua’s typical thumbprint, who created a vehicle of timeless beauty with the Maserati Mistral (which is even more true for the convertible than for the coupé).
Even today the Mistral appears up-to-date and is regarded by many connoisseurs as the most beautiful Maserati of all time. Built as a convertible only 120 times, this Maserati is a real rarity.
The first series of 3.7-liter injection engines built from '65 onwards with their recirculating-ball technology are not easy to maintain, not to mention to repair.
Many owners (too many there weren’t anyway at nearly one thousand produced Mistral) changed to a Weber Carburetor.
At least the suction sound improved.
And anyone who asks about the fuel consumption, can not afford it anyway - then as today, because the Mistral was really expensive with about 50 thousand DM at that time.
Attention!
Because of the small series production of the Maserati Mistral Cabriolet, the following applies to the dispatch of custom-manufactured convertible tops:
1) Old soft top to us (delivery address: CK-Cabrio GmbH & Co. KG, Siemensstr. 5c, Pohlheim D-35415, Hessen, Germany).
2) On the one hand, our manufacturing allows a fitting/adjustment at the car. On the other hand, this is only something for professional installers with relevant knowledge about how to handle it and how the convertible top gets its finish.
